Thriller starring Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia, Kristen Connolly and Stephen Lang to hit theaters in October
Suzanne Blech, president at Screen Media Films, has announced the acquisition of North American rights to A GOOD MARRIAGE, a thriller adapted from Stephen King’s short story “A Good Marriage” from the collection “Full Dark, No Stars”. King wrote the screenplay and Peter Askin directed the film that stars Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia Kristen Connolly, and Stephen Lang. Screen Media plans to distribute the film on October 3, 2014 with a nationwide theatrical release plan that will be accompanied by a day-and-date VOD platform release.
When her husband (Anthony LaPaglia) of more than twenty years is away on one of his business trips, Darcy Anderson (Joan Allen) looks for batteries in the garage. Instead she discovers the stranger inside her husband. It’s a horrifying discovery, rendered with bristling intensity, and it definitively ends a good marriage.
“Stephen King is one of our modern-day legends,” said Seth Needle, Director of Acquisitions & Marketing at Screen Media. “We can’t wait to bring Peter’s terrific adaptation of Stephen’s work to audiences just in time for Halloween.”
About the acquisition, Stephen King said: “I’m delighted that A GOOD MARRIAGE is going to be available to the movie going public very soon, and hope we can scare the hell out of millions of people. To me, that’s always an exciting prospect.”
And producer Will Battersby and director Peter Askin said in a joint statement: “We’re thrilled to be working with Screen Media. Their passion for the film has been obvious from the moment they first saw it and their release plan seemed aggressive and smart, making them the perfect partners.”
A GOOD MARRIAGE is directed by Peter Askin, written by Stephen King and adapted from his short story “A Good Marriage” from the collection “Full Dark, No Stars”, produced by Will Battersby, and Per Melita, music composition by Danny Bensi and Sauder Jurriaans, with cinematography by Frank G.
